On a international flight from uk to las vegas with 1 stop will i have to collect and recheck baggage?
im flying from london heathrow to las vegas with one stop at detroit with the same carrier both times will i have to collect baggage then recheck it. Also will i have to go through customs at detroit. i have a 2 hour gap between my flight landing and my other flight taking of is that long enough

That's a pretty tight connection! Can you get it changed? Every time I have flown into the US from another country and had a connection, I have had to collect my bag at the first stop inside the US, go through customs and immigration, and then re-check the bag for the final leg. Two hours is enough assuming everything is on time and working smoothly, but that is a pretty big assumption!

Yes you must collect baggage in Detroit and clear immigrations and customs. You then recheck the baggage for the domestic flight to LAS. As it's the same airline you will most probably not change terminal so the connection time should be ok. In fact, airlines/travel agents can't sell you a ticket that has a too tight connection. They must obey to the Minimum Connection Time for the flight. In any case, if you miss your connection due to a late flight or unusually long queues at immigrations, the airline will rebook you on the next flight for free.

Yes, you will have to collect your bag in Detroit, and then recheck it, but it is a simple and easy process. Detroit is a fairly easy place to go through customs. Your connection time will be fine.
