Best Website for Flight from Las Vegas to Green Bay?
I have to fly to Wisconsin 2 times a year minimum. What is the best website for fares? I have used 2 so far. Also what airlines do you prefer and why? My first flight was with NWA and ended up 2 days both ways which started as a mechanical error. I ended up getting hung up on, pushed off to other airlines (resulted in standing in lines for several different airlines over and over), 14+ ticket changes, told to sleep on the floor, I even ended up in an airport with no employee attending when they guaranteed there would be one. The freaking janitor is the one who helped me and my daughter. Very short version of a 48 hour trip that was supposed to be 5 hours. Any way they did it to me on both my outgoing and returning flight. Suggestions? A.A. treated me much better on my second trip, but I am stuck with a discount from NWA that would only make their price the same as other companies. Thanks Sawbuck all good Points, at least I feel better. I did has a heavy layover and they ever assured the next flight was held. I would say 6 airports total, and 4 phone calls during the trip and getting the same service at all locations doesn't say much for them. Lucky I am so laid back, I would have cracked much sooner, but I am pretty patient....

It's not a question of the website, so much as the fact that air fares are always changing up and down and up and down. When you see a fare that looks good, grab it as it may not be there in 10 minutes! The troubles you referred to with Northwest are far from uncommon today, and can happen with almost any airline. Some just do a better job of dealing with the problems when they happen -- which they will. The best advice to try to avoid such difficulties is to always plan flights with 2 or 3 hours of stopover time at connecting points. Nothing's foolproof, but a lot of people's problems begin with a scheduled 30-minute connection time at an airport where the walking distance gate to gate can be up to 20 minutes. The first flight arrives 15 or 20 minutes late and....

Consider http://www.allegiantair.com which has a nonstop flight between Vegas and Appleton, WI. However, they only fly this route on Sundays and Thursdays, and are not a large airline with other aircraft on standby in case of mechanical trouble. A quick look at there fares show they're probably not the cheapest option currently, either, but maybe one that might help you at some point. Otherwise, I see Northwest currently with cheapest seats on this route $278 r/t total. There aren't any nonstop flights between Green Bay and Vegas, as you've probably discovered, but there are to Milwaukee. To MKE, Northwest codeshare a flight with Midwest, who actually operate it; Frontier has LAS-MKE at only $208 r/t currently, connecting at DEN each way. If you need to rent a car anyway, then Appleton and/or Milwaukee fares might be worth the price.
