Las Vegas Flight Tickets (Buddy Pass, Or Discount Flight Ticket)?
I am leaving from Detroit on Tuesday going on a convention in Las Vegas and I would like to arrive in Las Vegas before 11PM and leave Las Vegas after 4PM. Where can I find out about buddy passes a discount or information? I am trying to get a round trip ticket under $200...

The thing with a buddy pass is that you are not guaranteed to get on the flight of your choice. When my mom worked in the airline industry, we would only get on flights where we knew the flight was really empty. Last time my mom flew, a person with a buddy pass was asked to get off the plane at the last minute because someone bought a ticket. So unless you are flexible, I would not count on the buddy pass. Check www.airfarewatchdog.com to see if they have any cheap flights.

Buddy Passes are only available to airline personnel. Unless you have a friend who works for an airline and is willing to give you a Buddy Pass you will need to purchase a ticket. When you fly on a Buddy Pass you fly non-revenue space available (stand by). You will have the lowest boarding priority with employees, registered guests, bumped passengers and all other non rev passengers getting seats before you. With spring break going on right now and Vegas being a huge vacation destination it is very possible that you will not get a seat on a flight. I flew non rev last spring to Maui. I was listed on the 5:20pm out of Seattle to Phoenix (where I was meeting up with my friends) and was unable to get a seat due to over sold flights. I was then listed on the 7:30pm flight. Again I couldn't get on. I was finally able to get a seat on the 5:20am flight the next morning even though 6 other people had higher boarding priority than I did. As a registered guest on my friend's airline there have been several times I've had to hold my breath and pray that I can get a seat on the plane. If I don't get a seat I'm not allowed to complain. I must follow a dress code and be polite and kind to all airline employees and fellow passengers as any bad behavior from me can cause disciplinary action against my friend.
